So I have been donating blood for a long time (many years), but I have only ever given Whole Blood. Up until now it was all I really had time to do… give whole blood whenever the van was on campus. I started a 6-week Double Red Blood Cell donation regiment now that I am working full time in Houston, Texas.

My first donation of Double Red Blood Cell (DRBC) went incredibly well, and here is a video of the donation process. When the tubing is red it is representing whole blood leaving my body. When the tubing is that nasty looking alien color it is the white blood cells and plasma re-entering my body. I have O+ blood, and I am now officially on a 6 week regiment for DRBC Donations.
